NewcastleGateshead’s 20-year vision launched

NewcastleGateshead’s city development company 1NG has launched its 20-year economic and spatial masterplan.
Placing the economy, people and places at its heart, the 1Plan sets out how NewcastleGateshead’s competitiveness can be increased over the coming years.
It has a specific focus on business growth and the knowledge-based economy and, despite being launched in economically testing times, has the full backing of Gateshead Council, Newcastle City Council, One North East and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Lord Charles Falconer, chair of 1NG, said: "Everyone knows these are challenging times for the economy and it’s more important than ever we have a clear assessment of our position and a clear strategy for the future.
"The 1PLAN is very timely. It allows us to focus on our shared priorities for making this a more vibrant and prosperous place over the next 20 years.
"It’s vital we ensure everyone in NewcastleGateshead can access the benefits and opportunities this will create."
