Report reveals importance of incomers to rural economy

Gateshead and Spenhill reach Tesco agreement

An agreement has been signed between Tesco's regeneration subsidiary and Gateshead Council that could see the submission of a planning application for the Trinity Square development.
 
The agreement is a sign of investor confidence and follows the release of the 1Plan, the city’s 20-year vision for economic development.
 
Leader of Gateshead Council, Councillor Mick Henry said: "This agreement brings with it the confidence of one of the UK’s most significant investors – which will hopefully trigger further development. It is hoped that this will turn Trinity Square into a vibrant centre that meets the long held aspirations of Gateshead people. read more

Support for North East businesses welcomed

The North East Chamber of Commerce praised the coalition Government’s emergency budget when it was unveiled in June.
 
Commenting on the budget, James Ramsbotham, North East Chamber of Commerce chief executive, said: “We knew this was going to be a painful budget, but the Chancellor has largely taken the right decisions to safeguard economic recovery by protecting businesses.” read more
